Federal Skilled Trades

The federal skilled trades class referred to in subsection 87.2(2) of the Regulations.

Requirements

Work experience

Have at least 2 years of full-time experience or equal in part-time in a skilled trade within 5 years before applying, after becoming qualified to independently practice . Meet job requirements for trade set out in NOC description, except for needing the certification.

Language proficiency

• Complete IELTS, CELIP or TEF and meet minimum of CLB 5 (English) or NCLC 5 (French) for speaking and listening
• CLB 4 or NCLC 4 for reading and writing

Job Offer

Have full-time job offer for at least one year OR certificate of qualification from Canadian Provincial/Territorial authority.

Proof of funds

• (Half of minimum necessary income) when not working on valid LMIA work permit
• Primary occupation in EE profile
• Trade groups include 72, 73,82,92,632,633
• Canadian work Experience will only count if candidate had required license/registration if the occupation is in regulated trade in the province they are working
